The Beach Boys' Mike Love and Executive Producer/Drummer John Stamos
Host Special Wraparound Segments

NEW YORK, Aug. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- With songs like  "California Girls" and "Good Vibrations," the Beach Boys created an entirely new music genre, a golden surf sound that epitomized America's optimism at the dawn of the 1960s.

But they never sang about the turbulent conflict between themselves and their domineering father, the women they loved, and each other.

Nominated for two 2000 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Miniseries, the two-part drama "The Beach Boys: An American Family" makes its VH1 debut on Wednesday-Thursday, August 30-31, beginning at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT) each night. The entire miniseries will air again in a single telecast on Saturday, September 2, at 1:00 p.m. (ET/PT).

The VH1 presentation of "The Beach Boys: An American Family" will feature special wraparound segments hosted by the Beach Boys' Mike Love and the miniseries' executive producer, John Stamos, the "Full House" star who has also toured extensively with the Beach Boys as drummer since 1983.

Brian Wilson Tribute Album, Caroline Now!,Due August 22

The pop genius of Brain Wilson is celebrated in grand fashion with the
Aug. 22 release of Caroline Now! (Marina/Caroline). The 24-track
tribute album features a host of other pop geniuses -- including Alex Chilton
(Box Tops, Big Star), Eugene Kelly (Vaselines, Eugenius), High Llamas,
and even Saint Etienne -- putting their own spin on Wilson's solo and
Beach Boy compositions.

Sidestepping the obvious, Caroline Now! delves deep into Wilson's canon of work for obscure chestnuts and previously unreleased tracks. Contributions span all ends of the pop spectrum, from the Wilson-obsessed High Llamas' electronica take on "Anna Lee, the Healer," to the Radio Sweethearts'
countrified "Honkin' Down the Highway." Caroline Now! also features the first recorded output in 30 years from '60s popsters the Free Design, which reformed specifically for the album.

Caroline Now! also sports a 28-page color booklet, featuring extensive liner notes, historical information on each track, and an exclusive interview with Wilson himself, who has given the record a thumbs-up. The CD booklet also features
previously unpublished photographs taken by former Dennis Wilson housemate David Dalton.

                Caroline Now! track listing:

  1. Eugene Kelly, "Lady"
                     2. Alex Chilton, "I Wanna Pick You Up"
                     3. June & the Exit Wounds, "All I Wanna Do"
                     4. Katrina Mitchell & Bill Wells, "Wind Chimes"
                     5. High Llamas, "Anna Lee, the Healer"
                     6. Souvenir, "Ne Dis Pas (Girl Don't Tell Me - French Version)"
          7. Duglas T. Stewart, "Lines, "
      8. Camping, "Busy Doin' Nothing,"
     9. Stevie Jackson, "Good Time"
     10. The Free Design, "Endless Harmony"
    11. The Pearlfishers, "Go Away Boy"
  12. Saint Etienne, "Stevie"
                     13. The Radio Sweethearts, "Honkin' Down the Highway"

Here is a review of the Live At The Roxy CD from Daily News/Los Angeles

-- Fred Shuster-- Brian Wilson/"Live at the Roxy Theatre" (BriMel)

Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson revealed a sense of humor at his recent solo shows at the Roxy by covering "Brian Wilson," the good-natured
Barenaked Ladies song that references the sand box Wilson once placed
beneath his piano so he could dig his toes in the sand for inspiration. This marvelous two-disc set, available only on Wilson's Website
(www.briamwilson.com), is a wonderful momento of those delirious West Hollywood dates, where a perfectly in-tune and in-the-moment Wilson was
backed by ace musicians from the Wondermints, among others. The
highlights here are many: terrific versions of "In My Room," "Surfer Girl,"Pet Sounds," "God Only Knows," "Caroline No" and an especially rocking"Good Vibrations," never among the easist tunes to duplicate well. "Live at the Roxy Theatre" is a delightful warm-up to Wilson's much-anticipated symphonic "Pet Sounds" show at the Hollywood Bowl in September.
