The upcoming Flinstones movie will feature the song "This Isn't Love" , written by Brian Wilson, on it's soundtrack. However, this is not a Brian Wilson recording. Apparently there will be a band in the movie performing it. It appears this will be a version that for the first time will include the lyrics that Tony Asher wrote for it. As you know, Brian's version of This Isn't Love was released as an instumental with Brian performing it on piano on the Windham Hill cd titled Songs Without Words. However, Brian will be performing This Isn't Love during his upcoming concerts at the Roxy!

Brian Wilson Readies Summer Tour With Orchestra
JAAN UHELSZKI, Rolling Stone News (March 7, 2000)

Move over, Metallica. Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson is planning to
take his pop masterpiece Pet Sounds on the road this summer with a full
orchestra. It's perfect timing, since  the  never-before-performed-in-its-entirety album, which yielded such
underrated hits as "Wouldn't It Be Nice," and "God Only Knows," finally went gold this year.

In addition to performing Pet Sounds, Wilson will also perform other
classic Beach Boy hits during his summer concert swing, which comes despite rumors that he would not be hitting the road this year. "Brian had such a good time on the road last year that he decided to go out again, but wanted to do something a little different," said Ronnie Lippin, Wilson's publicist.
"A symphony orchestra only enriches the work, and with it the possibilities are staggering."

While the dates haven't been firmed up yet, Lippin said that it would be
a full-scale tour this summer.

Wilson is currently busy rehearsing for his two shows at Los Angeles's
Roxy Theatre on April 7 and 8, which will be recorded for a live CD to be
released exclusively on his new Web site, www.brianwilson.com.

Rumour Debunked
At least two online music sites are running articles declaring the previously reported All Star Tribute To Paul McCartney , which was to include a track by Brian Wilson and the Wondermints called Dear Boy, to be a hoax.

Billboard and QOnline have articles on the subject:

From Billboard (Thanks to Gil McLean)

Edited by Jonathan Cohen / March 6, 2000, 4:00 p.m. EST
Reported Tribute Album Is News To McCartney Reps

Paul McCartney's publishing company MPL Communications North America and his London spokesman, Geoff Baker, are denying involvement in a
McCartney tribute album that Internet reports say is to be released on an undetermined independent label. The reports say the album will have
tracks by Brian Wilson, Foo Fighters, Neil Finn, Matthew Sweet, Ben Folds Five, and others.

"We are not mandating or working on any current Paul McCartney tribute record," says a source at MPL. Baker says he is not aware of the record, adding, "and I don't think Paul is either."

Andy Partridge of XTC, who according to reports had covered "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" for the set with a guest vocal by John Cleese, denies any involvement in the project. "This is really annoying," he tells Billboard Online, "because I had about six requests to do this and I just tore them up. We don't want to get involved in any tribute records."

-- Paul Sexton, London

From QOnline: (Thanks to "Vincent")

Mar 7 2000 12:22PM]
Last week's report from Launch.com on the the forthcoming Paul McCartney tribute album, Listen To What The Man Said, is proving a bit of a red herring, according to Music365. Many of the names supposedly involved have nothing to do with the project, particularly XTC, who were reportedly recording a duet of Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey with actor John Cleese.

But XTC's Andy Partridge has told Music365 that the news was nothing but a rumour. "We don't want to get involved in any tribute records. We really like McCartney and he's been enormously influential, but we really don't want to mangle one of his songs."

Endless Harmony Video -Press Release From Capitol

Capitol Records to Release Expanded DVD and VHS Editions of ``Endless Harmony: The Beach Boys Story''; Includes New Mixes, Rare Archival Footage and Bonus Clips

    WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--March 7, 2000--
Capitol Records will release new, expanded special DVD and VHS
editions of "Endless Harmony: The Beach Boys Story," the highly rated,
critically acclaimed documentary, produced by Stephanie Bennett of
Delilah Films and directed by Alan Boyd, which made its U.S.
television debut on VH1 in 1998.

A soundtrack CD of "Endless Harmony," originally released to
coincide with the VH1 airing, is also available. The DVD will feature
five bonus video clips, including recently rediscovered and previously
unreleased footage from the vaults, as well as new 5.1 Surround Sound
mixes of seven of their classic songs.

The VHS release will also contain rare archival footage which has
never aired before. In this two-hour documentary on their musical
life, The Beach Boys tell the story of their remarkable career, a
career that has spanned eight presidents and survived through
tremendous personal and professional obstacles.

Coinciding with the March 14 DVD and VHS release, American Movie
Classics (AMC) will air an abridged version of the documentary in two
parts on March 18 and 25, as part of a month-long Beach Boys promotion
in its American Pop program strand.

Among the newly added highlights on "Endless Harmony: The Beach
Boys Story" is a 1980 concert performance of "Do It Again" in
Knebworth, England, one of the few times a concert with all six Beach
Boys -- Brian, Carl, Dennis, Mike, Alan and Bruce -- was recorded and
videotaped.

In "California Girls," longtime fans will recognize outtakes from
the "All Summer Long" LP photo session, while "Kiss Me, Baby" features
shots from a pair of late 1965 recording sessions at Western Studios.
Never-before-seen footage of Carl Wilson strolling through Europe on a
1969 world tour accompanies "Long Promised Road."

The five bonus video clips featured on the "Endless Harmony" DVD
include TV appearances, promotional films and concert footage.
Complete performances of "Surfin' USA" and "Things We Did Last Summer"
are from The Beach Boys' earliest-known network TV appearance in 1963.

The complete promotional film for "Sloop John B" features a guest
appearance by legendary Beatles publicist Derek Taylor, while the
original film for "Friends" from 1968 boasts a previously unreleased
mix of the song that was recently unearthed during a search of the
group's tape vaults.

"In My Room" and "Little Deuce Coupe" are from the recently
rediscovered "lost concert" from March 1964. The DVD edition will also
feature seven bonus 5.1 Surround Sound audio mixes. They are
"California Girls," "Kiss Me, Baby," "God Only Knows," "Surf's Up,"
"Long Promised Road," "Sail On Sailor" and "Do It Again."

Featuring performance footage and the best of the group's many TV
and concert appearances, "Endless Harmony" showcases The Beach Boys at
the height of their early fame through to the present in their own
home surroundings. It contains open and often frank contributions from
Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Alan Jardine, Bruce Johnston and (from recent
and vintage interview footage) the late Carl and Dennis Wilson.

They talk of the inspiration behind the songs and how they were
created, inevitably bringing to the forefront stories surrounding
their incredible success in the early '60s and subsequent troubled
waters as band members began to pursue different creative paths.

The musical score throughout the film is from the timeless hits of
The Beach Boys, one of the most successful recording acts of all time,
with some 35 top 10 singles and nearly 40 albums released in the
course of 35 years.

The VHS and DVD release of "Endless Harmony: The Beach Boys Story"
follows the Feb. 1 release of the third volume in Capitol Records' new
and definitive "Beach Boys Greatest Hits" series and the top-rated
national broadcast of the ABC-TV miniseries, "The Beach Boys: An
American Family" which aired Feb. 27-28.

Here is some promo information that I recently posted on the Gold Board about a week ago, concerning author Jon Stebbins book , due in March, on Denny Wilson.

The staggering tale of the freewheeling brother who fired Brian
Wilson’s imagination and influenced the Beach Boys’ sound, style,
    and attitude

He was the embodiment of the sun-drenched California dream, a sandy-haired sex symbol that sparked a cultural tidal
wave. Surfer, lover, drummer, Beach Boy. His life was a short, brilliant, intoxicating ride that inevitably curled into a torturous
spiral of addiction and despair. Profoundly gifted but
destructively wild, Dennis Wilson was dead at age 39,
drowning quietly while his influence made millions for others.

Volumes have been written about the troubled past of Dennis’s older brother Brian Wilson and his amazing impact on the
history of popular music. But Dennis Wilson: The Real Beach Boy tells for the first time the staggering tale of the
freewheeling brother who fired Brian’s imagination and permanently influenced the
Beach Boys’ sound, style, and attitude. While Brian stayed in his room, brother Dennis hurled himself at life with an
unquenchable lust for action. From surfing teenager to drag-racing daredevil, from his legendary sexual appetite to his
chilling friendship with mass murderer Charles Manson, this biography follows the
hair-raising trail blazed by the real Beach Boy.

Author Jon Stebbins candidly and passionately offers the first in-depth look at one of rock and roll’s most compelling figures
in a book packed with rare, never-before-published photos and previously unknown facts.

JON STEBBINS is a fourth-generation Californian who has spent most of his life composing, performing, collecting,
studying, and writing about popular music and has contributed to numerous collectors’ guides and music-related
    publications. He is currently
working on a screenplay about Buddy Holly’s last tour.

According to a report from Brad Elliott, the news reported in the latest issue of Endless Summer Quarterly concerning the upcoming Brother reissues was not the latest news and not correct. Elliott says that the reissues will only be released in two-fer form. ESQ had announced that in addition to the two-fers, there would also be single cd's released in mini album sleeves and that there would also be vinly LP releases. This is not the case.

NEW BEACH BOYS BOOK PUBLISHED

A new book, Add Some Music To Your Day: Analyzing and Enjoying The Music Of The Beach Boys, will be published by Tiny Ripple Books on December 22, 1999.

The book presents the “best of” Add Some Music, the respected and fondly-remembered Beach Boys fanzine of 1978-1984.  Over 40 newly-edited articles, essays, and reviews provide a serious and critical perspective on the music of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys.

Edited by Don Cunningham (editor and publisher of Add Some Music during the fanzine’s seven-year existence) and Jeff Bleiel (author of That’s All: Bobby Darin On Record, Stage & Screen), the book features insightful, opinionated commentary on the Beach Boys which has been unavailable for over 15 years.

     Highlights include:

Musical analysis of 17 Beach Boys classics, focusing on Brian Wilson’s revolutionary and enduring triumphs as a composer, producer, arranger, and bandleader
Critical reviews of often-overlooked Beach Boys albums and singles
Comprehensive articles covering the works of Beach Boys Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Al Jardine, and Mike Love
Over 35 photos, many of which have been unseen since their original publication

Many Beach Boys aficionados consider Add Some Music -  a serious journal about the band’s artistry and history -- to be the best fanzine ever published about the group.  The articles now collected for the book Add Some Music To Your Day stand up as exceptionally perceptive commentary on the Beach Boys - writing which has never before received wide distribution.

Noteworthy among the 45 articles reprinted and re-edited for the book are Don Cunningham’s in-depth analyses of Brian Wilson’s beloved and acclaimed songs and productions.  “Help Me, Rhonda,” “Surfer Girl,” “Good Vibrations,” “Don’t Worry Baby,” “Heroes and Villains,” “California Girls,” and “Sloop John B” are among the classics covered.  Lesser-known tracks such as “Car Crazy Cutie” and “Let’s Go Away For Awhile” are also discussed.

Add Some Music To Your Day: Analyzing and Enjoying The Music Of The Beach Boys is available for $19.95 (plus $3 shipping) from Tiny Ripple Books, P.O. Box 1533, Cranberry Township, PA 16066.  Pennsylvania residents must add 6% sales tax.  Orders are now being accepted.  For more information, visit www.tinyripple.com.

The Beach Boys Greatest Hits Volume 3 (Best of the Brother Years) 1970 - 1986' Set for Release On Feb. 1, 2000

     WOODLAND HILLS, Calif.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Dec. 14, 1999--

CD Release Coincides With ABC-TV Broadcast Of New Miniseries

"The Beach Boys: An American Family"

The third volume in EMI Music Distribution's new and definitive
"Beach Boys Greatest Hits" series has been scheduled for release on
Feb. 1, 2000 to coincide with the national broadcast of the ABC-TV
miniseries, "The Beach Boys: An American Family."

"The Beach Boys Greatest Hits Volume 3 (Best of the Brother
Years) 1970 - 1986" focuses on what is often called "The Brother
Years," named after the legendary group's own Brother Records which
released a number of extremely noteworthy albums during the 1970 and
1980s.

Although these years were overshadowed by difficulties, personnel
changes and the tragic death of Dennis Wilson, the Beach Boys
continued to produce artistic masterpieces, many of which are featured
on "The Beach Boys Greatest Hits Volume 3 (Best of the Brother Years)
1970 - 1986."

The Volume 3 CD launches with the first single of "The Brother
Years," "Add Some Music To Your Day." Other tracks selected for "The
Beach Boys Greatest Hits Volume 3 (Best of the Brother Years) 1970 -
1986" include Carl Wilson's first vocal composition "Long Promised
Road," the Bruce Johnston song "Disney Girls," Alan Jardine's first
solo composition for the group "Susie Cincinnati," and "California
Saga (On My Way To Sunny Californ-i-a)" co-written by Jardine and Mike
Love.

Also included are "Sail On, Sailor," "Rock and Roll Music," "It's
Okay," "Good Timin'," "Getcha Back," "Peggy Sue," "Come Go With Me"
and "California Dreamin'."

The release precedes the broadcast of the new ABC-TV
drama-with-music "The Beach Boys: An American Family." Produced by
Storyline Entertainment's Craig Zadan and Neil Meron ("Annie,"
"Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella") and actor John Stamos ("Full
House"), who has toured as the band's drummer on and off since 1993.

"I wanted to pay homage to my heroes," said Stamos. "This is a
dream come true."

The four-hour miniseries will chronicle the early years of Brian,
Carl and Dennis Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine.
It will show their meteoric rise to fame and fortune from humble
beginnings as teenagers in Hawthorne, Calif. after they created the
West Coast "surf sound" with classics like "Fun, Fun, Fun,"
"California Girls" and "Good Vibrations."

Although their sound epitomized America's optimism, behind the
popular songs was the dramatic story of the struggles between the
young men and their domineering father/manager, the women they loved,
and each other.

The movie stars newcomers Frederick Weller as Brian Wilson, Nick
Stabile as Dennis Wilson, Ryan Northcott as Carl Wilson, Matt Letscher
as Mike Love and Ned Vaughn as Al Jardine.

In conjunction with the movie, on Feb. 20, A&E will present
"Biography -- Brian Wilson: A Beach Boys Tale." The two-hour biography
includes 35 candid interviews with close friends and family,
never-before-seen-or-heard film footage, music recordings and concert
performances and features Brian Wilson's performances of more than 20
American classics.

Also featured is music written by Brian Wilson heard for the
first time ever on television; original home movies, photographs and
sound recordings; and many television performances not seen since
originally broadcast decades ago.
