The King of Soul, SOLOMON BURKE, has enlisted ELVIS COSTELLO, VAN MORRISON, BOB DYLAN, TOM WAITS, NICK LOWE, BRIAN WILSON and CAROLE KING to pen tracks for his new album, the JOE HENRY-produced "Don't Give Up on Me." "My mind is just blown that these people even knew me enough to send me a song," Burke told Rolling Stone. "It's unbelievable, I can just go on and on. I wish I could've recorded two albums, that's how many great songs I had. This is a whole new bag." "Don't Give Up on Me" is due this July on Fat Possum.

VH-1 Presents -Rock the Hall:  Inside the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, one of music's most revered institutions, celebrates once a year with their raucous induction ceremony.  This show is going to take a look back at the highlights of the ceremonies of the past decade and a half.  We will learn how the Hall of Fame works, the oversights, controversies, and great moments of the annual ceremony.  The most moving induction and acceptance speeches will be highlighted-McCartney inducting Lennon, Springsteen inducting Dylan, and Bono inducting just about everybody. Some of the controversial stories will be told-McCartney pulling a no-show at the Beatles induction, Mike Love going off on musicians, etc.  Most of all, though, it will be a celebration of the great musicians in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

  Contemporary Improvisation Department Concert
Scott Sandvik, director- New England Conservatory, 33 Gainsborough St , Boston,MA - Feb 25, 8PM Jordan Hall - Admission FREE

Come for an evening of our "Pet Sounds," as NEC improvisors celebrate
the music of Brian Wilson, former Beach Boy. Each year the creativity
of NEC's Contemporary Improvisation department comes together around
the musical genius of pop music giants, from Stevie Wonder to Burt
Bacharach. This year's celebration is a journey into the vast,
untapped repertoire of Brian Wilson, the Beach Boys auteur. Wilson's
music extends far beyond surfin' and cars, and is sure to bring a
smile in NEC's improvisations, arrangements, and recompositions. Led
by NEC faculty guitarist Scott Sandvik, the evening's performers
include saxophonist Allan Chase, current NEC Dean of Faculty, plus
  students, alumni, faculty, and friends.
